New Receiver

Not much has changed for new receivers in the past year or two. I do not expect to see any receivers that have a new design until late 2016 or early 2017. The chip makers are playing catch-up, and nobody wants a new receiver to sell unless it does 4K videos without any issues.

Receivers that use the enigma2 operating system normally have a longer upgrade and support life than any other type of receiver. One example is the AzBox Premium Plus. This receiver came to market in 2009-2010. Support in enigma2 continues for the Premium Plus, an will probably continue for the foreseeable future. Support for closed source receivers will normally last 6 months to a year. Closed source receivers are usually a bit easier to operate, but the makers of closed source receivers want you to buy a new receiver every 1-2 years.

Best of luck finding anything new right now. Probably good idea to wait a few months and see what happens next.
