Ideas for Coax routing through yard

I have several antennas in the yard and the cables run across the grass. I don't really have any plans to bury the cable. Possibly for the 10' dish but not for the others. I accidentally mowed one of the cables in half earlier today and have yet to replace it.

I had an idea of possibly getting some small sticks or something that are a few feet tall with some kind of ring at the top to run the cable through. This way I can have the cables suspended. I would rather do something like this so I don't have to disconnect the cables every week.

Any ideas to get around this would be much appreciated. The grass grows extremely fast this time of year especially when we get a lot of rain. If I can get the cables up in the air I can run the mower underneath them and problem solved. I would probably leave them up in the winter because when there is a lot of snow there is not enough slack in the cable so when I swing my dish all the way west or east, the cable has actually pulled out of the lnb because the cable gets frozen into the snow/ice.

If you aren't going to bury the cables, it sure doesn't leave you many options aesthetically. You might run a guide wire from the house to the strongest and most strategic pole and attach the cables to the wire and span out from there to the individual dishes.

Then you can plant a few grapes and train them to use the guide wire and have your own vineyard. If they survive the winter there, you might have a Rob's vintage in a few years.

I have 2 main pipes, buried, that run across my backyard for the 10' and 8' dishes. It would be a real pia if they weren't buried when mowing the lawn.

Costa did you run plastic piping across the yard? How deep did you bury it? I have some experience running cables through conduit when I worked a ski resort job years ago. If I was going to bury it I would want access points so I could pull more wire through in the future when needed. For now I still need to run a new coax line to the 10 footer. Waiting on a new spool of coax.

Yes Rob I used a combo of plastic pvc and plumbing. The grass barely covers it as I buried them only a few inches and I always leave a bit of cable at the dish just in case. My 8' solid is 105' in length and the 10' bud is 110' long.

eb the corner of the house is about 50 feet or so from the main 10' dish that is permanently mounted. My Ku dish at 103w is probably 40 feet or so from the house. I think my fish tape is 50 feet so it may be feasible. The next cband dish I setup will probably have a 100' run of cable or more.

I ended up buying a new spool of rg6 and I just routed it around the perimeter of the yard so it is out of the line of fire. However I have had poor reception since then. I suspected the coax due to the longer length and the mower pulling on the cable that broke. I verified the new cable was OK. Still had poor reception and no dvb-s2 reception. So I suspected the lnb got damaged so I brought over my bandstacked lnb to test. I went to pull down the dmx741 and I got swarmed! Luckily I did not get stung. There was a wasp nest the size of a .50c piece inside. So I got my reception back but need to destroy the nest still! I need to make sure I install the covers next time.

I have a bird nest in the feed on my 10 ft channel master, fortunately it is not affecting the signal so I will leave it in there till winter:smiley14:

Your lucky... I had a hornets nest in mine last summer... I took it off at night while they were sleeping then whacked it with a long stick in the morning...lol

I had a wasps nest last year around 2 tiny openings on my polar mount on my 8' dish which really hindered me from doing much....a bit of silicone covered both holes.
