Intro:
Here is the VLC Player Plug-in that is compatible for VLC version 2.0. Works in the latest PKTeam Hyperion image as a plug-in (but not in MediaCenter.)
What it is:
The VLC Player plug-in enables you to connect with a version of VLC on your computer via its web interface and stream any file that VLC can handle to your receiver running Enigma2 either natively (MPEG-2 video/audio) or by transcoding.
How to install:
Start an FTP connection to your receiver and transfer the folder "VlcPlayer" to the "/usr/lib/enigma2/python/Plugins/Extensions/" folder on the Enigma2 receiver. Reboot.
VLC Server Configuration:
Start VLC on your computer and go into the "View/Add Interface" menu and click on the "Web" button to enable the web interface for that session. Alternatively, you can go into the "Tools/Preferences" menu, click "All" under "Show Settings", click on "Main Interface" and put a checkmark in "Web" under the "Extra Interface Modules." Click "Save" and the web interface will start every time you launch VLC.
VLC Player Client Configuration:
Under the Plugins menu launch "VLC Video Player". Press the yellow key and the green key to add a server if none are listed or the yellow key to edit a listed server configuration. Under "Server Address" add the ip address of your computer on the local network. Under "Video Norm" select the current resolution of the monitor/TV connected to your receiver. The rest should be self-explanatory.
Have Fun!
