They're too busy working on the SX88 problems which seems to have priority. The latest priority seems to be adding:
"- Menu - WebTV: beeg.com (XXX Adult) and s.to (Series Stream) added Also Red Tube XXX". I guess they believe that this is more important than blindscan.

Sounds like the SX88 is a great porn box. Maybe Rick Caylor is testing the porn features personally?
More excuses for no SF4008 blindscan.
I asked earlier this week and was simply told, "It was not ready." I think they may of had more issues with some new kernels being used in the latest versions of E2 Software.
So at this point after being through this with other manufacturers, I will believe it when it is released and works. Until then, this unit does not have blind scan.
They did also say they are "Working On It."
Thanks,
Rick
New kernel versions or kernel updates have to come from the Set Top Box Manufacturer. New kernels are not a part of E2 software, but the kernel is included with the enigma2 image. I have not seen any evidence of Octagon updating the kernel.
So at this point, after close to two years since its release date, the Octagon SF4008 does not have blindscan. Chuckrcheese claims to have a blindscan solution for the SF4008, but will not release it. I am very skeptical of this claim and consider it to be nothing more than wishful thinking. Anything is possible I guess, but hardly likely...
The real solution for blindscan in the SF4008 would probably be for Octagon to pay the tuner manufacturer for the feature. That would be the easiest thing to do, and Octagon may do this before releasing a new enigma2 receiver. It is really hard to say at this point what will happen, but anyone wanting or needing blindscan in a fta receiver should not purchase the SF4008 today.
New enigma receivers will be out within the next few months. You can expect new receivers from Dreambox, Vu+, and some others. The dual boot enigma2/Android will return. It looks like both the Dreambox and Vu+ receiver will have this capability. These new receivers will have more features and capabilities than the Sf4008. These new receivers will probably cost less money when compared to what Rick is trying to sell the SF4008 for. We will see....

BULLSHIT X3!!!!
The manufacturer has already payed Silabs for using the tuner. The tuner already has HARDWARE blindscan built-in. Octagon did not push Silabs to deliver the correct driver for this tuner the way Dreambox did, or more possibly did not even TRY to push Silabs because they DO NOT WANT blindscan for SF4008 in order to promote other receivers! Simple as that!
Same goes for other manufacturers as well. Even VU Zero 4k does not have the correct blindscan, the use of binaries are workarounds!

Bullshit X4..... seems like we have all been shafted again by the E2 manufacturer's monopolistic global offerings and sales plans. In other words..... the major brands are saying.... we will determine what, how and when to buy and you will like it or f*** off.
Seems to me the best approach would be for all major image groups to stand together when requesting new drivers or go on strike and stop providing support for all NEW E2 receivers if their requests are not met. Play the game..... eventually the major manufacturers will see the light and come around.
In the interim, I'll stay with my Duo2, Sony 4k tv, DirecTV and continue to watch fta, 4k streaming via the Sony plug ins and DTV. No tears on my part in regards to the manufacturers. Effem!!!

Mr. Rick Caylor has to keep the blindscan ruse going.
I don't know if anything has been released. The blindscan that I know of for the SF4008 is still not perfected yet. Kinda works and sometimes crashes the receiver. So I would not recommend using it if you find one, until we can check it and confirm it works well. Would hate for someone to brick their box testing it on this.
We will be gone a couple of weeks for some vacation time. If something proven does come out, ChuckrCheese will release it or will provide a link for it here in the forum.
Thanks,
Rick
To date, Dreambox, Vu+ , and the rest of the enigma2 receivers I know of that have hardware blindscan use the same format. There is a bin file installed in usr/bin to control blindscan for the tuner, and to control the blindscan interface for the user which is called the blindscan plugin. Call it a work-around or whatever else you want, but this is the way it has been done in the past, and this is the way it will probably be done in the near future.
Octagon does not have the resources available to them that Dreambox, Vu+ and some other manufacturers have. They admit as much here:
we dont lie, we wait realese fro msw guys, sorry
The odds of getting a decent blindscan for the SF4008 are not good, and these odds decrease everyday. It is foolish to think about getting anything else fixed on the SF4008 because it costs money, and this receiver is more or less a dead item now for Octagon. They will ignore the complaints about this receiver and focus on the release of the new SF8008. You can expect more excuses for the SF4008, including the occasional drama from Rick or his servant.Last edited by el bandido; 08-06-2018 at 05:35 AM.

Looks like a dead horse for now considering the 8008 will be making a debut on or near the same time as the Vu 4k receiver.

Octagon needs to tell people what has happened so they will not continue to wait for something that will not be fixed!
undertaker,
nothing is forgotten, we also wait, if i have definites i give info
Truth be known, Octagon probably has not had anyone working on the Sf4008 since the end of 2017.

Truth be known, Octaon does not want to talk about the SF4008, but would rather discuss the new SF8008 instead. This newly released receiver has the Hisilicon chipset which has been problems in enigma2 fta receivers. I think the new Vu+ Duo 4K will also have this chipset, but Vu+ has more resources than Octagon to deal with problems, bugs, and other issues. Maybe Octagon does good with this receiver...We will see...
Octagon needs to make a public statement about the SF4008 so people can move on. It is very doubtful that there will be anymore real updates for this receiver. I know this and Octagon knows this. It is not the end of the world, but saying nothing at this point or continuing to make excesses and acting like they are waiting for SF4008 updates is worse than admitting what happened and moving on.

There is NOTHING, absolutely NOTHING you can tell me about blindscan not running on a hardware supported tuner!
All these companies with Silabs tuners not enabling native blindscan are simply to blame. They did that on pure purpose for marketing reasons and in order to enable it on the SAME tuners on newer models to make people buy them.
Simple as that!
This is why I will wait for January and go with Edision OS Mio 4K (provided they also do what they promise).

Octagon has "fixed" the sound issue by rolling back the drivers to 2017.
[sf4008] rollback driver to 20170712 to load driver with working audio, with new date
This is sort of like putting a bandage on a bullet wound because it does not help much. And putting a new date on old drivers is also a nice touch.
This will fix the sound problem, but it will also create other problems, depending on what features you use. I appreciate the effort, but I am not interested in owning a New Octagon product due to poor support such as this.
