file download and loading

I downloaded the 2025A file to put in my 8100 HD PVR, and it was unrecognized by the box. I remembered "back in the day" you had to rename the files to get them loaded, so I did,but still no luck. It had been working well for years, My wife wanted the newest Asian channel, so just did a simple scan, bingo, there was the new channel, but of course, "it's not close to the other channels" and she was too llazy to just punch the numbers in, she wanted to thumb it. Of course my next attempt killed everything in the box and re scanning isn't correcting it. I tried to load it with the last sw file I had, but it's not being found by my computer. Any suggestions?

Don't own the 6100 but a google search turns up about ten different sites that still show the loader and fta factory file.

Here's the old fta factory support site but it doesn't list the 6100.
