The Optibox Gekko needs to be looked at carefully. According to the specs, this receiver is a low cost linux receiver with intelligent blind scan capabilities. The Gekko also has the free internet tv services such as You Tube and You porn. The Gekko does not have much of a display but it does have some buttons on it so it could still function if the remote control was somehow disabled. I think this receiver would be perfect for somebody that is looking for a low cost solution for the Optibox Intelligent Blind Scan. Two .pdf files are attached. This receiver is also designed to be attached to the back of a HD television. EB

Very similar to the azbox ultra receiver which also doesn't have a front panel display. Just curious EB, do the optibox line of receivers open 4:2:2 feeds?

From what I know here in North America, the only 2 receivers that open 4:2:2 feeds are the azbox and vantage. It would be beneficial for future Optibox receivers to have this capability, Imo.

There are several versions of E2 available, each requires a slightly different boot loader installation (you boot them from a USB stick, rather than replacing the Optibox software.) One of them is available in the files section here, unfortunately it's the worst one in my opinion. I don't think any of them has blind scan yet, but maybe you don't care about that.
