9500hdx on s10

pansat 9500hdx firmware on openbox s10;front panel doesn't work,you need a pansat remote or universal remote set for pansat.
You can't get into the installation or hdd or channel menu,the receiver locks up.
Edit a channel list and load,no audio out and the info button says no audio pid even when it is set correctly in the channel list.
It will play .ts files recorded with the s10 actually better than the s10,no "device too slow to play" nag or lockups.
The zoom function actually zooms,unlike the s10 that just takes you to the sat list.
aug 8 firmware lets you backup to usb,a full 4meg file,not just 3.4meg
Processor ran cool,no need for a fan.
Games worked fine,at least tetris did.
It let me load the s10 firmware via usb to get back to s10 firmware.
Now I know what the firmware looks like and it's capabilities.

Nice experiment but I wouldn't suggest any member attempt this unless they want to brick their receiver.

I haven't bricked one yet,but as an extra condom I have blank flash chips I bought from digikey.

I bricked my manhattan rs-1933 receiver about 7 months ago when we were testing it out, without a viable rs232 module at that moment it was useless.

no money but I enjoy being a pioneer.
I believe the channel editor was the old pvr800 with a tweaked script.ini to handle the bigger pansat file.
Unfortunately the old version has no tab for h264 or ac3 audio like the later version.
I will try to tweak the ini for the newer pvr800 program.

The maincode lzma all start with the hex 6C 00 00 80
So I searched my collection of firmware for files with that header
near the beginning of the file.I had about 4 or 5 that I was able to extract
the bootloader sections(1st 64k of the firmware.abs file)
These are bootloaders that just use maincode compressed,not encrypted and compressed.

I loaded v339 pansat then updated with just the bootloader,one at a time.
None would boot mated with the pansat firmware.
Then I patched all the firmware I ripped the bootloaders from with the pansat
v339 bootloader.None of those firmwares would boot.So the bootloader has to match the firmware it was originally mated with in this experiment.

I have tried swapping bootloaders on other firmware(s) and they did not work either.

I was able to compressed the decompressed firmware and send it back to the receiver ok.
I used the lzma.exe that comes with the loader and editor programs.
I was concerned because it wasn't exactly the same size as original,but the receiver took it ok.
There is one lzma.exe that is 131k and another is 162k,both performed the same.
