These messages are from Esmos today:

1st will finish kodi realese end of august. After then will start blindscan develop.
Improvement Kodi + driver update scheduled for late August.
It may be possible now to have a DVB-S/S2 blindscan before 2018.
Requests for driver updates have also been sent. Will be interesting to see what updates the drivers get, or what updates the drivers have this time.

The SF4008 may also be capable of a "blind lock" for multi stream and other types of transponders. I have never seen the blind lock function work before, so I do not know exactly what it does or how it works. It would be nice to see a new feature to go with the traditional blindscan. The data sheet also seems to suggest that these two features are ready for use. Hopefully blindscan and blind lock can be added in a short period of time once they start working on it.

I do not know what version of Si21662 the SF4008 uses, but I think it is Si21662D.
The Si21662D offers an on-chip blind scanning algorithm, as well
    as blind lock function
I think the traditional path would be for Octagon to build a binary file to access the on-chip blind scanning algorithm, then use the existing blindscan plugin as an interface for user inputs.

    Translated message from Esmos today:

yes new Kodi drivers have just arrived, times first check. I and / or Captain will report it in the forum.
I expect a new tuner driver to be released tomorrow or Monday, depending on how their testing goes.

Glad to see Rick has sold out the first shipment he received. Looks like he will be placing a larger order in the coming days. Nice to see new owners entering the enigma market in the U.S.; hopefully, challenging the ebbing fta market.

Agreed. Good to see someone stepping up a bit.

I do not think the FTA market in North America would have shrank as fast as it did if new products had been introduced. Most American FTA dealers are more or less selling the same junk that was available in 2010. We will have to see what happens now...

Kodi test images are available for those that want to test. Kodi needs an internal or external hard drive installed in the receiver and a swap file to work correctly.

    What does this really mean?

Another week or two?....Another Month or Two???

Seems it would be best to fix the things that are fixable, and add things that are easy to add. THEN work on the Kodi Beast.

It is what it is. Patience is needed. Forget about blindscan until Kodi is finished. Maybe it will be sorted out and fixed soon.

Unfortunately or fortunately, on the other side of the pond, depending on one's viewpoint, Kodi will always be more popular and have precedence over blind scan.

But, should the SF4018 ever materialize, it supposedly will have blind scan upon its release. Rumors.....

    I wouldn't hold my breath....
As long as there is not implementation in the drivers or the binaries required for any blindscan plugins, the problem will remain regardless the name of the STB. This is why we hope any of the manufacturers take time to fix these issues. Besides it's time they did something for the Enigma2 community from their side. For years they rely on what a team of hobbyists will do for free to get into their receivers and make money from that with multistream support being one of these...
