No Blindscan. Do not know if this feature will be added or not.

Once Technomate releases a new receiver it's very rare for them to add any additional features later on. Almost all upgrade files for TM receivers are via phantompatch files. If and when TM address a blind scan feature it will most likely be with the release of a new stb.

Going to ask a question here that I'm sure you guys can answer. Why would a receiver such as the Technomate not have blindscan built in at that price when the el cheapo Chinese boxes all have blindscan? Is it cost or that they just don't think it's worthwhile.

Probably the major market for fta right now is Europe. They can get channels on the fta receiver like we do here on Dish Network or Direct TV. We would not need blndscan either if we could get the channels from Dish or Direct TV using fta receivers. Europe also has a VAT tax which helps pay for free channels on the satellites. These free channels are advertised and well known. So the bottom line is: The average fta user in Europe does not really need blindscan.

For those DXers that want blindscan, TM has non-linux receivers for that task. For more media related, and other capabilities, TM came out with their linux version.

Hmmm, funny how Europe has what they call a VAT (Value Added Tax) and here, in Canada, we have what started out as GST (Goods and Services Tax) which has morphed into the HST (Harmonized Sales Tax) and no one that I know has ever been able to explain where all that money goes. The Europeans have used the same type of tax to make television available to everyone and we use it to fund??? Oh yeah, we give it to the CBC to create the worst televsion programming on the planet. Oh well.
