MediaPortal is a plugin that does what it says on the tin. It takes a wide range of web media, IPTV streams, movies, music, TV and puts it all in one place. Some sites have standalone plugins that have a better interface than the one included in this plugin, but others like YouTube search have no equal. I would even venture to say that this plugin has the best YouTube search experience I've seen on Enigma 2 with a nice onscreen qwerty keyboad where you use the cursor keys to select letters and numbers and enter with the OK key. A wide variety of sports, TV series, and even FilmOn with podcasts and local TV channels from Boston and New York (at least that's what I see in my area.) And if you go into the settings, you can even enable up to 21 pr0n services--nothing like an old X-rated movie for a night of laughs and <cough> inspiration.

The MediaPortal plugin can be found in the repositories of both HDMU and PKTeam images.

In case you haven't tried it, Mediaportal has a USERChannels section where you can add your own selection of YouTube channels.

Say you have a podcast or podcast network that uploads its shows to its YouTube channel. Maybe there is a music group or organization with a channel that you want to regularly chack for the latest videos. User Channels is your solution!

To use this feature, locate the mp_userchan.xml file in the /etc/enigma2 folder (where your channel lists and settings lie) and transfer the file to your computer for editing.

    Here is a sample file:
    Code:
// In this file you can enter your Youtube channel
// This file is best edited with Notepad + +
// The encoding should be set to UTF-8

    // Examples:
    <name>Jupiter Broadcasting</name><user>jupiterbroadcasting</user>
    <name>Security Now</name><user>TWiTSecurityNow</user>
<name>The GFQ Network - Live Internet Broadcasting Network</name><user>guysfromqueens</user>
The name parameter is the name of the channel and can be whatever you wish to call it. The "user" parameter is the actual channel name and can be found in the address bar of your web browser when you are on that channel.

After editing, transfer your file back to the receiver and it is immediately available for testing without having to reboot. Just select User Channels in MediaPortal, press the Green button to load your list and select a channel. If all goes well, a list of videos should be displayed after a few seconds. Select one an press the OK button to play. Playing will continue to the next video in line until the STOP button is pressed.

    Have fun!

AND, the number and selection of porn channels in the semi hidden menu is the best of all the plugins.

I've been using this plugin for podcast watching and prefer it to TSMedia--especially since the latest update of TSMedia 3.2 on the HDMU feed put my USB stick in an endless reboot. This was with the ffmpeg version, but it may also happen to the current gstreamer version. If you have this plugin installed from the HDMU feed, do not update! Uninstall it!

I was playing around with Media Portal again watching a movie. I couldn't get the movie to move forward or reverse using the < or > keys. But the number keys will work. 1, 4 and 7 will reverse and 3, 6 and 9 will go forward. the 0, 2, 5 and 8 do nothing. Seems to work with the other plugins as well. Nice touch by the coders for watching a video.

    1 < 15 sec 3> 15 sec
    4 < 1 min 6> 1 min
    7 < 5 min 9> 5 min

Yes, that's how skip works. You can configure it in the Setup under the Record heading. "Custom skip time for..." is how it is shown. You mean to tell me you only just discovered this feature?
