I finally decided, this morning, to see if I could get my 39" Ku band dish back into operation. After about 15 to 20 minutes I had a solid lock on 97 W. I wasn't concerned with what I found as I had set the receiver to 97 and so the motor moved the dish. The dish had blown off position in a very strong wind. Once I had a lock, I blind scanned 83 through 116.8 with my old CW700S just the make sure I was still on the arc. I then swapped out the 700 for my Openbox S9 so that I could pull in DVB-S2 and HD channels. Well, I found and scanned 97 but the S9 has not been able to find any other sat. The 700 found 11735 on 83 with 55% Q and the S9 could not even muster up a hiccup. Anyone think of why the S9 is having such a hard time with signals

Got to be dish alignment. You should pull in several sats between 97 and 83, and more than just one TP on 83.
Second thought, check your local cord. settings for your S-9 motor set up.
The S-9 is a very good receiver ( after more than a dozen up grades) and should match or exceed the CW700.

Oh, I got 83, 87, 93, 97, 101 and so on. I only mentioned tp 11735 because it is one that I usually have a problem with. I locked on to the 8 sats I tried with the 700 and only 97 with the S9. The S9 worked fine on my C Band set up this morning so cords are fine with it. It just doesn't seem to be able to find the Ku sats and this doesn't seem to make sense.

And problem solved. I had this down to 5 possibilities. 1) Dish alignment, 2) Cables, 3) LNB, 4) Receiver and 5) ??? Well, I had no problems getting 83 to 116 at 85 to 90% with the 700S so that eliminated both the LNB and alignment. I am using the exact same cables on the S9 as I did on the CW700 and the receiver worked fine on the the other TV earlier so that only left #5, you guessed it..........ME!! I was trying to set things up in the dark and could not see the dish. What I did not realize was that even after finding 97 and saving the position, when I went to any other sat, the receiver sent the dish way east and I was assuming that because I was looking for 95 after 97 I had to go 2 degrees east when in fact I had to move the dish almost 25 degrees west. So far I have 83 to 103 in and working great. In conclusion, damn, it was me again!!

Aye t'is. Now to finish getting this little dish set up and then get ready to install the 12 footer as early in the spring as possible. I think I have convinced a buddy of mine to install a BUD. He refuses to pay for TV and his internet is too slow for streaming. Talked about installing a BUD and I told him about a 1/2 smaller BUDs I know of so he is going to look into them.
