Golden Media Spark One HD PVR

HD satellite receiver. Original and Enigma2 (coming soon) OS dual boot possible. WiFi option.

The Only difference apart from the price between Spark Triplex and Spark One are the tuners: The One has 1 tuner and Triplex has 3 tuners.

Coming in at just under the $200.00 mark this HD STB is between $60.00 - $125.00 cheaper than the Alien 2 with all the same bells and whistles, but with a faster processor for quicker blind scan times..A2 = 450 MHz - Golden Media Spark One = 600 MHz - Once Fulan Spark uploads software upgrades to the Spark Online service, Golden Media Team has the update at just the same time as the Alien.

Very easy to use, no more downloading software upgrades and doing it the manual way unless you choose to. The system information message will let you know when there is new software available and all that is needed is to navigate to the Golden Media Spark Online Service and press the red button to start the upgrade. Then the GM does it's thing - reboots and your done!

I just tested some blind scans on the C-Band side and the results are just the same and just as fast as the 600 MHz Triplex. So those who do not need or want a multiple tuner STB, this would be a great option and much cheaper if I may add.

Keep in mind of all the network, multi media options / features and plugins that are available for the Golden Media makes this box very interesting. But at the same time there are much cheaper boxes for just doing a fast blind scan if that is all that is required or needed.

Same as the Triplex the One also comes with a free HDMI cable and two different colored face plates to change the appearance of the STB to suit your surroundings if desired.

I should add both the Triplex and the ONE take the same files. Everything is Identical apart from having just the one tuner compared to two usable tuners for the Triplex.

I wonder if Golden Media is using a different processor than the Amiko boxes, or using the same one and just clocking it faster?

As far as I know they use the exact same ST7162 chip, That is rated at 600 MHz.. Golden Media chooses to use the full capability of the chip for it's boxes to make them fast as possible, were Amiko chooses not to. Not that it's really needed but over-clocking can also be done in Enigma2 to increase this just like any CPU chip.

The above mentioned ST chip pdf can be found easy with a Google search.. Golden Media knows we like fast and faster .

Thanks for keeping up with new models
I have 3 questions for you on this STb

    -Will it do Manual pids
-Will it be possible or be added in the future to get USA close caption CC1, CC2
-Specs mentioned Component Composite but i dont see the connectors in the picture

    regards,

I can answer 2 of those questions Carlos. Manual pid entry is already set up in the install menu when you scan a tp there are areas for numeric entry. Your receiver can be used with hdmi cable or composite, there isn't component.

    Thanks Costa.

As far as CC goes, to my knowledge there are very few fta channels that broadcast CC and even then I believe they can only be viewed via composite and not HDMI.
Someone may have more knowledge on this. I honestly have no idea if CC would be added because of this.

So how does this box compare to the anaconda or gekko? I would like to get something soon to replace my S9 but I want the best all around.

It's blind scan and media center is superior to the Anaconda. Fastest blind scan I've ever tested but it does miss a tp here and there and its tuner sensitivity is even better then the Anaconda.
