Easiest of the c band sats is Galaxy 17 at 91w, scan in with awesome signal quality even on my 6' dish. If you get any signal at all, start skewing the lnbf to improve signal quality. Once you have obtained the best signal you can get pull the dish up or down to see if it improves- if it does either way you'll need to adjust your elevation.
Don't give up when you are in the arc you will see the birds. Can be a little frustrating at first but "C" band is easier the "KU" band.
Well got 83w & G17 then had to stop & help the wife.
You can see the birds in the clark belt on LYNGSAT.COM It is a pain but worth the trouble once you get it working. In the good old days things were easier with lots if analog channels to find, economics caused the switch to digital. I have a small hand held receiver and can scan the satellite to see what is on it and then watch on the built in screen.
91west indeed like Costa ctc says its a good bird to start, check out my dish (small5.5')and got it aimed to 91 enjoying CW channels.[Only registered and activated users can see links. Click Here To Register...]
Scanned in today 83w, 87w, 91w Satmex5, satmex6 & G17
Good to hear BB, it takes time and can be frustrating as well but well worth it once you have it tuned onto the Clark Belt.
I have a 7.5ft mesh dish I wish someone would come to NC and get...:)
