I just picked up a Coolsat 6000 for pretty cheap. I was hoping to be able to use it as a signal meter out in the field with my mini TV. Does anyone on here have any experience with these?

I have a 4000 & I used it to setup my arc & it work well. In fact its running my KU dish now. 6000 is suppose to be better then the 4000.
I have 2 of them collecting dust at the moment. Excellent fta receivers but be careful with using it as a signal meter. The cs6k will indicate signal quality of 60% when it just barely has any at all and will not open that channel. Once you get to about 64-65% then it will open with a few glitches. In order to know that you are getting good signal quality the cs stb should be reading 90% and up.
Cool, I noticed with my cs8000 it will lock at a much lower quality reading. Openbox will lock around 50ish for most higher SR transponders. Openbox jumps all over the place though. Sv8000 will usually lock at 1% quality but has a much weaker tuner.
I used my old Coolsat 5000 for setting both my KU and C-band dish, I find they work very well for tuning in sats because of the sensitivity..you know when your close with these.
You might want to try this 3rd party (legal) file if you don't have it already, it's a little more true fta friendly.
