EU To Ban 8K TV Sets To Limit Power Consumption

What happens in EU, does not stay in EU. I guess we'll be next in the U.S. to start banning. Not that it will really matter anyway since there are no 8k sources available for transmission.

We can't even get our atsc 3.0 NextGen transition operation in order. I checked last Saturday to see how the transition was progressing. Our PBS 4k transmission in my area displays as 1080P, while the atsc 1.0 simulcast continues to display as 720p. The CBS, NBC, ABC, Fox atsc 3.0 also display as 1080p and their simulcast atsc 1.0 equivalents as 1080i or 720p.

Not too impressed...........
